1. Purpose of This Policy

The Innovation in Caregiver Support (ICS) Erasmus+ project is committed to making its website and digital content accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and users of assistive technologies.

This Accessibility Policy explains our approach to accessibility, the standards we aim to follow, known limitations, and how users can contact us if they experience an accessibility barrier.

2. Our Accessibility Commitment

We aim to provide a website that is:

• Perceivable, so users can access information in different ways.
• Operable, so users can navigate and interact with the website using different devices and input methods.
• Understandable, so content and interface elements are clear and consistent.
• Robust, so the website works with current and future browsers and assistive technologies where reasonably possible.

These principles follow the structure of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), which are widely used for accessible web content.

3. Accessibility Standard

The ICS website aims to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, as far as reasonably possible for the current website structure, content and third-party tools.

We also take into account the accessibility principles reflected in the European web accessibility framework, including the need for websites to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.

4. Measures We Aim to Apply

When creating or updating website content, we aim to:

• Use clear headings and logical page structure.
• Provide meaningful alternative text for informative images.
• Avoid relying only on colour to communicate important information.
• Use readable text, sufficient contrast and clear spacing.
• Keep navigation consistent across the website.
• Make links descriptive and understandable out of context where possible.
• Ensure forms have clear labels, instructions and error messages.
• Support keyboard navigation where possible.
• Use accessible document formats whenever downloadable resources are provided.
• Review new pages and materials for accessibility before or soon after publication.

5. Accessibility of Project Materials

The ICS project may publish reports, presentations, educational resources, news posts, images, videos or downloadable files. We aim to make project materials as accessible as reasonably possible.

For downloadable materials, we aim to:

• Use clear document titles and heading structure.
• Use readable fonts and sufficient contrast.
• Add alternative text to important images where possible.
• Avoid scanned-only text when a readable digital format is available.
• Provide accessible versions or alternative formats upon request, where feasible.

6. Forms and Contact Features

The website may include contact forms or other interactive elements. We aim to make forms clear, labelled and usable with assistive technologies.

The website may also use Google reCAPTCHA to protect forms from spam and automated abuse. reCAPTCHA is a third-party security tool provided by Google and may present accessibility challenges for some users. If you cannot complete a form because of reCAPTCHA or another accessibility barrier, please contact us directly at info@ics-project.eu.

7. Maps, Embedded Content and Third-Party Tools

The website may include third-party content or tools, such as Google Maps, embedded videos, social media content, analytics tools, WordPress plugins or Elementor components.

Although we aim to choose and configure third-party tools responsibly, some accessibility aspects may be controlled by the external provider. Where third-party content is not fully accessible, we aim to provide essential information in an alternative text-based format where reasonably possible.

8. Known Limitations

We are working to improve accessibility, but some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible. Possible limitations may include:

• Older PDF or document files that may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
• Embedded maps or third-party tools that may not provide full keyboard or screen reader support.
• Images or media added before accessibility review that may need improved alternative text.
• Plugin-generated elements whose markup is partly controlled by external software.
• Video or multimedia content that may not yet include captions, transcripts or audio descriptions.

We aim to address accessibility issues gradually as the website and project materials are updated.

11. Continuous Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. The ICS project aims to improve the accessibility of the website as new content, resources and project results are published.

Future improvements may include:

• Reviewing page structure and heading order.
• Improving image alternative text.
• Checking colour contrast and readability.
• Improving keyboard navigation and focus visibility.
• Reviewing downloadable files for accessibility.
• Providing alternative formats for important project materials where feasible.
